Do you need a pc to connect your toshiba thrive with or will a Mac with Mac programs work?
Will both types of computers work or do you have to have a pc
There might be a way to connect it to a Mac but Apple products are finicky. They don't like outside devices, but since the Thrive runs on android you may have some luck. Try posting this on XDADevelopers, I'm sure they would love the challenge.
Should I get an iPad 2 or a Toshiba Thrive?

Toshiba is good for enertainment no gamers allowed android market sucks but the thrive has better quailty and runs with better procesor than the ipad but if you like games get ipad caus I regret no access to better games from there market place

At first blush, the Toshiba Thrive could be mistaken for a “rugged” Android tablet. Given the thick design and ridged back side, it’s easy to see why someone might skip on by this device and on to more sleek and sophisticated-looking devices. You know, devices from bigger names such as Motorola, HTC, and Samsung. After spending the last few weeks using the Thrive on a regular basis, I've really come to appreciate the tablet for its performance and price. Even to the point of overlooking its not-so-pretty design.
Toshiba's Hurdles
One of the biggest obstacles Toshiba faces with the Thrive is that the company has no Android presence to help the company gain a foothold. They have no track record of Android phones or tablets to speak of and nothing reputable to bring to the table. At $429 the 16GB version is roughly $70 less than its Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 counterpart. Is it worth paying the extra money for Samsung’s 10-inch tablet? That depends on what’s most important to you. Do you want a functional tablet with great hardware and function? Or do you need to look cool and hip with the slimmest, sexiest tablet on the market?

The Toshiba Thrive may seem fashionably late to the Android Honeycomb tablet party, but considering the fate of certain other rushed-to-market tablets, perhaps there was a good reason for that. Toshiba endeavored to give users features missing from many other offerings in order to stand out, including full-size ports, a removable back cover, and a user-replaceable battery. However, there are some other, less positive, ways the Thrive stands out: such as being thicker and heavier than superstar tablets from Samsung and Apple.
With Toshiba laptops, the lack of visual panache is more than made up for by powerful machines that work hard and last a long time. Will that be the case with the Thrive?
