Like the previous commenters imply with their vitriol, it seems clear that the primary target of this tablet is the Nook color. Amazon has seen its ebook marketshare decline (it all depends on whose numbers you believe, but it couldn't help but decline) and the Nook Color is the single biggest threat. Although purists will rail about the differences between the two, they are very similar. I personally do care about DRM, but most people don't, as proven several years back when Itunes removed most DRM and the result was not a bang, not even a whimper, but little meaningful reaction at all.
Unless some unexpected bug comes along, I would be shocked if the new tablet doesn't have massive sales. All it has to do is be roughly as good at basic functions as the Nook Color and it will sell to the same general market, which Amazon has a lot more customers in than B&N did.

Motorola Xoom Tablet
Are you looking for just the right tablet and are wondering which one to choose? HTC has recently unveiled its new addition to the evergrowing tablet market, the 10-inch Jetstream. It packs really good specs but is also priced above the average. How does it compare to the older Motorola Xoom, which has been available for some time now? Let’s take a look at their specs and find out.
First of all, what can be said about their design ? For starters, the HTC Jetstream comes in a stylish Shimmering Silver color, but it is not the slimmest tablet around, at 13mm in thickness, nor the lightest – 709 grams. The Motorola Xoom, on the other hand, is not far, having a thickness of 12.9mm and weighing 730 grams. The difference between the two devices in terms of size is almost unnoticeable, so it’s pretty much a tie.
...The long awaited 4G LTE update for owners of Motorola's Android-based Xoom tablet from Verizon Wireless may finally be almost ready.
Droid Life is reporting that according to an email that was sent out to Xoom owners this week, the LTE update will be made available for business and government users of the tablet first. This will be a kind of pilot program for upgrading the tablet before Motorola opens it up to the general public. That should happen sometime in September.
This 4G LTE update won't be a simple software download and program install. People will need to send their Xoom tablets to Motorola in a special shipping box where the update will be handled as a hardware upgrade. For those business and government users of the Xoom, the expected turnaround time should be fairly brief, around three business days.
...Motorola Xoom vs Apple Ipad 2 – Wars of The Tablet
Unveiled on March 2, the iPad 2 features many improvements over its older brethren. However, it remains to be seen if these improvements will be enough to keep Apple’s share of the tablet PC market intact. Back in 2010, the first iPad was a major success with a global sales around 14.8 million items. The original iPad was so successful with the estimated of 75% of the tablet PC market are owned by Apple.
The iPad’s commercial success, has attracted a lot of competitors on the tablet PC market. With so many companies joining the tablet bandwagon and offering their version of the iPad killer, many are eager to see how the iPad 2 are going to compete against an improved competitor.

...Last month I got an email from Rauxa PR with an incredible offer to join the Verizon Midwest Moms blogging program. They asked if I would be interested in getting a Motorola Xoom Tablet with six months of Verizon Wireless service to check out, plus the chance to try out a new Motorola phone. AND, I would get to KEEP either the Tablet or the phone!
Now, you know I love gadgets and technology, so you’d better believe I replied yes to that email!
My introduction to the Xoom came the day before the Brands & Bloggers Summit, when the Midwest Moms got together for a day of training. The tablets were pretty much set up and ready to go, ready for me to use to check Gmail, send Facebook updates, tweet, watch YouTube, browse the web – you name it, the Xoom does it!
