We know that we just saw huge a fanfare for the brand new Samsung Galaxy Note, this revolutionary new device promises to set Samsung apart by offering a hybrid category of smart devices blending phone and tablet.
The other Korean smartphone manufacturer is releasing a device with the same name that’s not as exciting.
The LG Optimus Note is an Android qwerty slider. The specs seem a little more than halfway decent. We are looking at a 1.2ghz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 4” WVGA Nova Display and Android 2.3, Gingerbread.
The LG Optimus Note also packs a five mega-pixel rear facing camera, a front facing camera and 8gb of onternal memory. As Android Guys points out it does look like the specs of the previously leaked LG Optimus Slider. Theres no definite pricing or expected release date yet.

Radio Shack had quite the time showing off the exclusive they have on Sprint’s HTC EVO 3D, but for us Android enthusiasts who excrete little excitement for an alternate color of a device that’s already released, a phone called the “LG Marquee” stole the show. Our friends at Android Central point out that it looks a lot like the LG Optimus Black. And if you don’t remember, Sprint was rumored to be launching that phone after one “Optimus B” made a quick cameo in Sprint’s “Employee Packs” section for Sprint ID. We’re glad to see Sprint hasn’t given up on that one because we were absolutely in love with the display on that thing when we last saw it. iPad 2 Vs. LG Optimus Pad Features Comparison
At a glance, the tablets appear sized differently. The Apple iPad 2 has a 9.7-inch design giving it a magazine kind of look. In comparison, the LG Optimus Pad is an 8.9-inch tablet, giving it a large novel like look.
Both these tablets have capacitive touchscreens, and it’s the LG Optimus Pad which displays at a higher 1280 x 768 pixels resolution while the Apple iPad 2 displays at 1024 x 768 pixels.
Camera While both tablets are equipped with cameras, the LG Optimus Pad boasts two 5-megapixel cameras that can capture 3D pictures and videos. The cameras not only record 3D 720p video but are also capable of capturing full 1080p when recording in 2D along with 3D pictures. It comes with a 2-megapixel front facing camera too.

Our post on the tablet is today’s most commented story across the entire TechCrunch network. It’s Engadget’s second most commented post of the day and one of the highest visited posts on Gizmodo so far today. It even occupied the top spot on Techmeme for most of the day with 25 blogs joining in on the conversation. All because of a silly little quote.
The old adage that there’s no such thing as bad publicity still applies today. I didn’t catch one article about the LG tablet that was all-out praise or didn’t mention the iPad at least a few times. Most everyone doubted the VP’s statement at least a little.
But that’s fine. I didn’t even know that LG was working on a tablet before the story broke early this morning. That’s probably true for most of our readers. A few months from now, no doubt after a couple of carefully-timed ‘leaks’ and pre-announcements, the tablet will finally hit the retail market and we will all have in the back of our mind that this thing is supposed to be better than the iPad.
