Will LG experience a backlash for locking the G-Slate bootloader?
18.08.11
Months before jumping ship to the iPhone.
Large amounts of negative feedback has forced HTC to give in to the masses and they recently released a bootloader unlocking tool , currently only for the Sensation.
Motorola, too, has been notorious for making development especially hard on their devices. The DROID X is essentially the poster boy for locked-down Android phones as it was one of the first to ship with a secured bootloader. Tampering with the bootloader would effectively put the phone into a boot loop until the stock loader software was flashed back. Fortunately, there are some pretty smart third-party developers out there who found a workaround and likely salvaged the device's reputation. I can honestly say the DROID X was one of my favorite phones, design-wise. But Motorola's software, which was dubbed MOTOBLUR at the time, was atrocious. Even with the workaround, development was limited and loading custom ROMs became more of a chore, rather than the hobby it should be. Luckily, Google has just purchased Motorola Mobility . We will likely see Moto hardware with more development support as Google openly encourages it and now has the final word.

Best Buy Drops Price Of RIM PlayBook
02.09.11
The sale might help improve RIM's PlayBook sales numbers a bit at a strategically important time, however. RIM is prepared to announce its second quarter fiscal 2012 results on September 15. RIM revealed on its earnings call in June that it shipped 550,000 PlayBooks. The September 15 earnings report will give the industry crucial perspective on how well the PlayBook has been selling.
Pricing has been a key issue facing tablets competing against the Apple iPad, which sells for $499 to $829, depending on configuration. HTC recently debuted the JetStream , which will sell for $699.99 with a two-year AT&T contract. The JetStream's full retail price is $849.99. The JetStream will be available

Android Games for Freddy Krueger, Night of the Living Dead, and Halloween ...
21.08.11
Each of the films associated with these games: Halloween, Night of the Living Dead, and Nightmare on Elm Street are classics in the horror genre, paving the way for the future and serving as the go-to must-see for any inner-horror genre enthusiast. So too must these games be made to be above and beyond the current state of apps in the Android world today – here’s hoping: In-Fusio is a game developer group that’s been in business for some time,so we can trust them to do a good job regardless, but this is their first dip into Android.
Will they make a good triple-thread first impression?
Halloween will be a pinball game, one capable of 3D action so you can get the full experience on your EVO 3D or your LG THRILL or maybe even your LG G-Slate. Next, Freddy Krueger (notably not named Nightmare on Elm Street, mind you,) will be “wall-breaker” game which we assume will be similar to the classic Arkanoid – though how the claws will come into the picture we do not know. Finally there’s Night of the Living Dead, aka the first film to show zombies as re-animated flesh-eating cannibals, will here be translated into a tower defense game – having played zombie-related tower defense game “Block Head Zombie Wars” myself for many a long evening, I cannot wait for this fantastic re-visioning.
