What is the difference between an HTC Desire and the Droid phone?
Dec 24, 2010 by Cherub | Posted in Cell Phones & Plans
An actual DROID phone and an HTC Desire essentially the same phone? My brother is telling me the HTC Desire is not a DROID phone,, but it that is is a droid-like phone. So I guess I'm wondering, what
The Desire runs on the Android Operating System and it is an android phone. "Droid" is a brand name Motorola uses for the Droid X, 2 and Pro.
I did a quick check and the Desire is a good phone.

HTC sues Apple -- with Google's patents | TUAW - The Unofficial ...
by Chris Rawson
Bloomberg reports that HTC has filed new infringement claims against Apple. Oh well, another day, another patent lawsuit, right? Except this one has a big twist: HTC is suing Apple with Google's patents .
"The nine patents originated with Palm Inc., Motorola Inc. and Openwave Systems Inc., with Google taking ownership within the past year, according to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records," Bloomberg reports. The new infringement lawsuit has been filed in Delaware, with HTC alleging Apple's infringement of four patents originally issued to Motorola.
Many have seen Apple's patent suits against various handset
We all know that the HTC EVO 3D was first introduced in RadioShack stores some weeks back, but if you do not take to a black colored version that seems to be far too businesslike, and would very much prefer a white model that reminds you of your beloved iPhone 3GS, then here is a snippet of good news – RadioShack will be offering an exclusive white HTC EVO 3D from tomorrow onwards. What kind of changes do you think a new color can make to the sales figures of a particular device? We know it did wonders when Nintendo toyed with variants in their handheld consoles since time immemorial, but how about smartphones? Would you prefer the white one which you can see in greater detail after the jump, or a purple colored version ?
For starters there has been a HTC device outed known as the HTC Rhyme who recently received its DLNA certification . The device seems to sport a model number (ADR6330VW) which is the same as the HTC Bliss, but now another HTC device has popped up having received its DLNA certification as well – the HTC Rezound. Based on its name, which we’re guessing is a play on the word “resound” (or maybe even resonance?), it seems likely that this could be another Beats specific handset by HTC.
Unfortunately apart from its DLNA certification, not much is known about the device, so stay tuned as we’re guessing that more information surrounding the HTC Rezound will eventually start popping up.
ClassCo sues Apple, HTC, RIM, Samsung and others for patent ...
by Tyler Lee
Another day, another lawsuit. This time it looks like Apple, HP, Huawei, LG, ZTE, HTC, RIM and Samsung are the ones being collectively sued by ClassCo over caller ID patents. According to ClassCo, the companies mentioned have infringed upon its caller ID patents that are being used in their VoiceAnnounce device (as pictured above), which not only displays the caller’s name/number, but as the name implies, will announce it as well so you will know who’s calling before you even answer the phone.
ClassCo claims that the companies infringed upon two of its patents, and apparently a handset that can identify who is calling is an infringement upon its patents, or so ClassCo says. They are asking for a possibility of an injunction but their main reason is reportedly to seek out “reasonable” royalties on its patent. Granted VoiceAnnounce may have been pretty a hot device many years back, it appears that it is being advertised as being great for senior citizens and children which makes us think that perhaps ClassCo could just be another patent troll.
HTC Cites Patents Obtained From Google in New Lawsuit Against ...
by Eric Slivka
Bloomberg reports on an interesting twist in the ever-growing patent dispute between Apple and handset manufacturers supporting Google's Android operating system. According to the report, HTC today filed a new patent lawsuit against Apple and amended an earlier complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), citing nine patents that had previously been held by Google and assigned to HTC just last week. The four patents cited in the new lawsuit were initially held by Motorola, but apparently passed to Google sometime over the past year before being transferred to HTC. Google is of course currently attempting to acquire Motorola Mobility in a bid to add a hardware component...
