Should I buy a HP dv3-2007 or a Toshiba M300/06F (or something else)?
Apr 18, 2009 by Roxy | Posted in Laptops & Notebooks
I am wavering between these two computers.
HP dv3-2007:
intel core 2 duo P8600 (2.4Ghz 1066Mhz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache)
320GB (5400rpm) Stata HDD
4GB DDR2 (2GB+2GB) (800mhz)
13"
The 13" display on the HP will get old pretty quickly if you spend any length of time on the computer. For serious work, don't get anything with a monitor smaller than 14.1".
However, the HP has a better processor. For Windows

HP TouchPad slides out of its cardboard box with a lot of resistance, a precise paper seal creating a vacuum that does its best to keep its tablet firmly ensconced within. Keep pulling and the pressure equalizes, the box yields, and you're granted access to what can only be called a somewhat chunky tablet. It weighs in at 1.65 pounds (750 grams), heavier than the 1.3 pound (600 gram) iPad 2, heavier than the 1.26 pound (570 gram) Galaxy Tab 10.1, and heavier even than the 1.6 pound (730 gram) Motorola Xoom -- which is itself hardly a delicate flower. HP TouchPad the tablet's dark, simple design doesn't make room for many externally defining characteristics, making figuring out which...
Yesterday we were please to bring to you a video on the developmental progress of the integration of Android and the HP Touchpad , yet there were still a few limitations to it. As you all know, the Android world never sleeps; it’s always busy brewing up another batch of awesomeness. A prime example of that is this newly leaked video I am about to unleash upon you. This comes directly to us from the CyanogenMod team, and it features not only the implementation of multitouch, but GPS acceleration and accurate color reproduction as well.
Check out this two-and-a-half-minute video:
Android lovers nationwide will be really glad to hear this little tidbit also. If you missed your chance to get in on the HP Touchpad madness last month when the dropped the prices to $99 and $149 respectively for the 16GB and 32GB models, HP has announced that they will be doing one last run on the devices, which should hit the shelves in “the next few weeks”.
HP announced in the last week that they are dropping out of the tablet market. This caused them to slash the prices on all the remaining stock in an effort to quickly liquidate their Touchpads. This caused a tablet buying frenzy on the web over the last weekend($99 and $149 from about $500). They sold out almost immediately at Best Buy but through a well timed text from my brother I was able to get one on Amazon.
There is now a strong underground push to port over Google Android onto the hardware. There has even been a $1500 bounty offered for the team that is able to bring the port to the masses.
Here are some teams working on this, you will find the same people across multiple groups as the work to coordinate:

Even so, it doesn’t close possibility that third party would start to develop various applications and games for this WebOS platform in the future.
