Does anyone know if the new HP touchpad will use the Android Market?
May 18, 1300 by Jeb Howard | Posted in PDAs & Handhelds
Just seen the new HP touchpad, and I'm not sure if I should get it or not, I only really want it for Games and apps, so will it be using the Android market? or Is HP making their own?
It's not an Android device, so i don't think it will have Android Apps.
It has its own App catalog, containing many of the same kinds of apps and games as an android device.
I like webOS much better than Android, but the

Aug 22, 2011 by alex | Posted in Laptops & Notebooks
If I get the discontinued webOS TouchPad, will I be able to get Google's Android operation system or is that deal still not met between Google and HP?
Yes you can install Android 2.2.1 in your HP TouchPad. Then your touchpad is a dual book tablet.

can i wipe my hp touchpad and replace the OS with android?
Aug 20, 2011 by boom goes the dynamite | Posted in Laptops & Notebooks
just purchased hp touchpad, id like to wipe it and replace with the android operating system. is this possible to do
It's not possible. Android is keyed to certain hardware. You can't even upgrade an Android device to a newer version of Android. Android was designed for short-life devices, like cellphones, mean to be 'disposable'. After a couple of years you upgrade

Yea'...so what's the big deal with people wanting Android? Not real big on these things, so have no clue what HP Touch doesn't offer that Android does. Not even sure what the heck Android is, to be honest.

(1 diggs) HP Touchpad can run Android OS
Sep 01, 2011 from mandyalvin in World News
Recently, the crack study of HP Touchpad has made new progress. CyanogenMod, the third-party firmware team of Android, has shown its latest study results that is smoothly transplanting CM7 to Touchpad. That means HP Touchpad has moved a step forward to run Android OS.
HP TouchPad Android Port Moving Along, Gets Multitouch Support ...
by Cory Gunther
Today we have another video to tease everyone with showing off not only CM7 booting, but full touch support with 10 point multi-touch fully functioning. Not only is everything working but it appears extremely quick, responsive, and we don’t see any lag from the video. This my friends is what we call progress! While I’m sure things are still a long ways away from being fully functional, this is a great start and enough to get plenty of users excited.
The last video we saw things were not too far along and nothing was working but today’s shown above shows not only the progress that has been made, but that things are moving quite fast thanks to team TouchDroid. They still have a long ways to go but I figured a few would be glad to see the video and the TouchPad in action. Stay tuned as we will be keeping our watchful eye on the TouchPad as more develops.
HP TouchPad Android progress: touchscreen drivers now working ...
by Brad Linder
Android on the tablet, that’s about as far as they’ve gotten, since there were no working touchscreen drivers.
Now the folks at Team TouchDroid say they’ve figured out how to get the touchscreen working , which is overcomes one of the biggest hurdles to getting Android to run properly on the HP TouchPad.
The 9.7 inch tablet ships with the webOS 3.0 operating system, but after HP announced it was canceling the tablet interest in an Android port picked up for two reasons:
HP started selling remaining inventory for prices as low as $99, which makes the TouchPad one of the cheapest high quality tablets available. Since there’s no certainty that webOS...

Is Android Ramping up for the iPhone 5 Onslaught and who else is in the Game
The iPhone 5 is rumored to be release on Sprint, AT&T and Verizon in October of this year and then on T-Mobile sometime later. One rumor states that the iPhone 5 will be a dual-mode CDMA/GSM phone for anytime/anywhere use. This puts up a huge plus to international / business users and of course, the regular user. Not only would you be able to use the phone almost anywhere in the world, but you’d have an excellent chance of having some connection all over the US. Another huge advantage iPhone 5 purchasers will have is the ability to switch to any carrier they desire once their contract is up and they own their phone outright.
The iPhone has other advantages over Android as you have the same experience on every device on every network. As the platform is also pretty much standard, software developers have a single target device and a much better chance of anything they develop running on every iPhone out there, with very few exceptions.
The advantage of Android over this...
Android 2.3.5 Running On HP TouchPad With Touchscreen Support ...
by Roland Hutchinson
The other day we showed you a video from the guys over at Team TouchDroid where they had managed to get Android 2.3.5 running on the HP TouchPad , although some of the features need work, including touchscreen features.
Now the guys from Team TouchDroid have released a new video, and the latest video shows the touchscreen display with multi-touch gestures working on the HP TouchPad, which you can see below.
Recently, HP decided to drop the HP TouchPad just weeks after it initially launched. In doing so, they also sold off all remaining inventory for $99 for the smaller of the two models. A good number of people managed to pick up the tablet at $99 and some of them want to run Android on it.
At the moment things have been described as being very beta. The tablet is running CyanogenMod 7 which is a port of Android 2.3.5, but with a lot of bugs. However, these are gradually being ironed out and some day in the near future we should get to see a more stable version of the OS.
The video below shows 10 point multitouch functioning on the HP TouchPad Android tablet. Responsiveness is there, so expect to see this feature marked off the todo list soon.
