A stranger in an eerily familiar land
After notifying our gracious evening editor of my problem via instant messaging, I found myself mostly waiting for Google to fix the problem. And I mean instantly. Every 60 seconds or so I'd refresh the screen in hopes that the "404" error would disappear, replaced by my lengthy list of folders and documents.
Within 15 minutes I realized I had no choice. Either boot up Word and get back to typing, or try to explain why I didn't file the three articles still assigned to me. Prizing my job and the paycheck it comes with, I dove back into Word -- and found it to be just as slow as I remembered.

Microsoft signs deals with two more androids
18.05.67
Patent lawsuits have become a big part of the mobile market with Apple, Google, Seattle-based Microsoft, and Research in Motion all claiming that the other is stepping over the line of intellectual property boundaries. Out of these lawsuits it has been Microsoft's claims against the companies manufacturing mobile devices using Google's android that has been gaining the most momentum with companies, such as, HTC signing a licensing agreement in April and now both ViewSonec and Acer signing similar agreement today.
“We are pleased that ViewSonic is taking advantage of our industrywide licensing program established to help companies address Android’s IP issues,” said Horacio Gutierrez, corporate vice president and deputy general counsel of Intellectual Property and Licensing at Microsoft. “This agreement is an example of how industry leaders can reach commercially reasonable arrangements that address intellectual property.” Mr. Gutierrez also gave a similar statement thanking Acer for signing the intellectual property agreement.

18.05.34
Dell expects both Windows 8 and Android to be credible options for tablet customers next year, and indicated it plans to offer products built around the two operating systems, a company executive said on Wednesday.
Windows 8 is starting to become a real option on tablets, and early results that Dell has seen of Windows 8 on the company's tablets look very promising, said Amit Midha, Dell's president for Greater China and South Asia during a conference call.
Whenever customers have more choice, there is more innovation, rapid adoption, and new usage models, which bode well for Dell and the rest of the industry, Midha said.
Dell did not specify when it plans to launch its Windows 8 tablet, and whether it will run on ARM-based or Intel x86 processors. Windows 8, scheduled for release next year, will run on ARM-based and Intel x86 chips, opening the possibility that Windows will run on a large number of tablets using ARM processors.
