News: Apple Moves to Block Samsung's Galaxy Tab in Japan

.

Apple and Samsung have been locked in a legal battle over patent infringement claims for several months. Both companies have alleged that the other’s mobile devices use patented technologies without proper licensing, and have filed lawsuits against each other in the U.S. and other countries.

Apple wants to block Galaxy Tab sales in Japan

Samsung filed a lawsuit against Apple in Japan in April over allegations that the iPhone and iPad maker is using mobile communication patents it owns without proper licensing. Apple countersued in August claiming Samsung is blatantly copying the look and feel of the iPhone and iPad with its Android-based tablets and smartphones.

Lenovo: Samsung Galaxy Tab Sales 20K, not 2 Million

So just how many units has Samsung sold of its seven-inch Galaxy Tab device? It's a good question, and executives from rival Lenovo think they have the answer: 20,000, a figure well short of the one million units that Samsung first claimed to have sold some three months after the tablet's launch.

Samsung hasn't exactly been forthcoming with how many Galaxy Tabs it's actually sold, nor has the company offered any comment to address Lenovo executives' claims. Samsung first said in early December of 2010 that the seven-inch device, the company's first foray into the tablet market, sold around one million units – "faster than expected," was the phrase representatives assigned to the tablet's apparent popularity.

Waterproof Fujitsu LTE F-01D Joins Galaxy Tab 10.1 on Japan's ...

NTT DoCoMo is gearing up to release their first LTE-enabled tablets , a pair that includes the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and a new slate from Fujitsu, the ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D. While the Galaxy Tab is the same device we have become familiar with in other parts of the world, the Fujitsu tablet is something new altogether. Along with its dual-core OMAP 4 CPU, 10.1-inch screen, and Android Honeycomb installation, the ARROWS Tab features a waterproof design and “Hand Gesture Control.” The latter feature apparently allows for touch-free control of the tablet while the former allows Fujitsu’s first Honeycomb tablet to be the perfect bathtub companion.

Apple iPad vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 « Nishita's Rants and Raves

I’ve been a happy owner of the original Apple iPad for more than a year now. It’s an awesome tablet and everyone in the house is completely happy with it.

But, how does it compare with the competition one year later?

Sadly, not so good. The new Samsung Galaxy tab comes chock-full of interesting features, and I can’t wait to get my hands on them in person and try it out for myself.

Here’s a small slide show of tech specs that I took from the Samsung website:

Apple-Samsung Dispute: Galaxy Tab 7.7 Pulled in Germany, iPad ...

The wide-ranging intellectual property battle between Apple and Samsung has continued in recent days, with one of the more notable events taking place in Germany, where Apple won a new preliminary injunction against Samsung requiring the company to remove its new Galaxy Tab 7.7 from the expo floor at the IFA show in Berlin as part of a broader ban against sale and promotion of the device.

Samsung Electronics Co., the world's second-biggest handset maker, unveiled the Galaxy Tab 7.7 for the first time at the annual trade fair, known as the IFA, which kicked off on Friday for a six-day run in Berlin. But Samsung pulled the tablet computer out of the show after a Dusseldorf court accepted on Friday Apple's request to ban sales and marketing of the product in Germany, the company said.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 faces banhammer in Germany | Ubergizmo

Having said that, I wonder what kind of tune will Samsung sing after they mentioned earlier on that they have no concrete plans as of yet (or have refrained from announcing them) to sell the device in the US, so if Germany has laid down the banhammer (with the rest of Europe probably following after that), where else will Samsung peddle their wares?

Good thing Samsung is not going to take all of this lying down, claiming that the new injunction “severely limits consumer choice in Germany”, and the South Korean conglomerate will take “all available measures, including legal options” in order to be competitive in the European market.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 wows the crowd » Coolest Gadgets

You know something? Samsung is pretty serious when it comes to churning out tablets that hopefully, will contain enough firepower in the specifications list to usurp the iPad 2 (and its subsequent successors for sure), and while their original 7″ Galaxy Tab did not really take the world by storm, the sequel after that, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 certainly proved to be quite a stunner. Not one who rests on their laurels, Samsung has yet another tablet released for the masses – the Galaxy Tab 7.7 which is also the first tablet that has the brilliant Super AMOLED Plus display in the world.

Debuting at IFA 2011 in Berline, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 will merge both design and ultimate portability, where the Super AMOLED Plus display paves the way for a wider range of colors with greater separation between lights and darks vividly. Not only that, a 7.7″ screen size is perfect, as it is not too big, and neither is it too small that you will need to squint. Add that to the fact that it comes in a 7.89mm thin form factor at a mere 335 grams, and chances are pretty high you have a winner on your hands (or in your jacket pocket/purse).
