Since many cellphones are locked to certain carriers, I'm curious to know if it's possible for two people on different carriers to buy cellphones at the discounted contract price, and then unlock them

Dell unveiled it' latest unlocked GSM mobile phone, the Dell Venue at the recent CES in Les vegas. The Venue is one of the Android-based smartphones that comes with a 4.1-inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive, multitouch display, FM Radio, 8 MP camera with led flash, micro SD slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB, 3.5 mm HSJ and 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 processor with 512MB RAM and 1GB ROM.
Dell Venue Pro has some good things going for it. It runs a new operating system, large screen and more. Take a closer look at the Dell Venue Pro here in this informative article.
Launched in Hong Kongjust before last Christmas, the Dell Venue (sans Pro) was just announced by the manufacturer for the U.S. with the occasion of its CES Press Conference.Just a few years ago, virtually no one thought Dell would venture into the smartphone business. With the exception of a few stand-outs, Dell has always been fairly conservative with their products and had never really strayed too far from the PC and its associated peripherals and accessories, although they did make a few slick PDAs back in their heyday. Dell's been mobile for years, however, and the Adamo XPS showed that the company's design squad is certainly capable of producing some world-class, ultra-mobile hardware. But Dell smartphone? As strange as it may have sounded just a few years ago, the company has launched a full-on assault into the handset market, and not a minute too soon.
Because the new Dell Phone coming soon as well. If you saw Dell roadmap for this year they will have one new Windows Phone call “Dell Wrigley” for this year. So perhaps they are trying to sell more of these to make room for the new phone.
I just bought computer 2 month ago otherwise I was all over it for this price. One of the best and stylish phones out there.

After long time, I had a chance to play with Dell Venue Pro device for more than a week. It was the only device, which I want to play with and never had a chance to do so. Though it would be inappropriate to look at a old generation device, I just want to share my experience with the device. Even though the device looks great as its specs, what about sales of the device ? Why it didn’t became a top seller? Find my thoughts on Dell Venue Pro’s software and hardware and Dell’s execution on these device after the break.
Regarding Software :
Dell Venue Pro handles both Windows Phone NoDo and Mango as smooth as we expect, which is not anything special as every Windows Phone device does it. I heard complaints from users related to Wi-Fi bug , random restarts, some freezing moments due to firmware. But seriously, I didn’t even restart the device once. As I got an unlocked Dell Venue Pro device, there was no carrier specific apps.
...Here have received our unlocked (AT&T) Dell Venue Pros, which as we reported are now available for $299 .
We received lots of inquiries about the status of the firmware of this device--specifically is it the latest, greatest firmware to rule them all (v2.12)? Well, Dell did claim all unlocked phones would ship with 2.12 starting at the end of June and true to their word, they do.
As you can see in the picture, the 2.12 firmware and OS version 7392 are on board, making these device as up to date as you can get (without flashing Mango). So far, we've had no lockups or WiFi issue and we have a reported 15+GB of storage available and 512MB of RAM (480 available).
But what about T-Mobile and AT&T branded phones? The former was suppose to get the 2.12 firmware update "around the middle" of July and we're just a bit past that with no update yet. Still, Dell has some wiggle room here so perhaps in the next few days? That's at least better than AT&T branded phones which have no release schedule publicly posted, though we heard some rumblings about August. Neither situation is doing anything to win over current Venue Pro owners though, so here's to a quick fix.
...Build quality of phone is very good but keep in mind that it is HEAVY. about 193gms - thats HUGE by any standards! - This was the reason I didn't buy Venue Pro. I was using Nokia C7-00 before shifting to Samsung Focus. C7-00 is ~150gms and I though that was a bit heavy (when you hold the phone for longer periods you will understand the pain of each extra gram) About Techenclave.com
