Capture your life with Evernote on the BlackBerry PlayBook
One reason I bought myself a BlackBerry PlayBook at launch, before I even had my own BB smartphone, was that I thought the device had lots of potential. It is taking some time to realize all of that potential, but application developers are making it better with some great apps. As posted on CrackBerry.com Evernote is now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook and can be download from BlackBerry App World . Evernote is an application and service that lets you capture, store, and search for just about anything you can think of in one central repository and I use it on all of my mobile devices.
I don’t yet see the news of the release up on the Evernote site , but will get the software loaded up on my PlayBook soon and give it a spin. From the screenshots on CrackBerry.com it looks like you will be able to create notes that are text based, have audio, have pictures integrated and attachment support. I can’t get enough of Evernote and the software because so much more useful when it is available everywhere for you to capture your thoughts and daily life.
Canaccord slashes RIM PlayBook sales estimates
“Our August checks continue to indicate soft sales of RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook with some retailers recently lowering prices on the device in attempt to move inventory,” they said.“With our checks indicating the iPad 2 continues to dominate sell through trends for the tablet market and our expectation for increased competition from Android OEMs such as Samsung, HTC, and even Amazon into the holiday season, we expected continued soft sales for the PlayBook.”
Having previously expected RIM to sell approximately 2.2 million PlayBooks in 2011, the investment bank now believes a 32% lower figure of 1.5 million is more appropriate. In 2012, Canaccord now estimates 2.5 million PlayBooks will be sold, 22% less than before.
BlackBerry PlayBook tablet gets $150 price cut
During its most recent earnings announcement , RIM said it had shipped 500,000 PlayBooks. At that time, the mobile device maker also announced it had missed revenue targets by hundreds of millions of dollars and that it would start layoffs during the second quarter.
RIM's co-CEO Jim Balsillie said at that time that the "PlayBook launch did not go as smoothly as planned."
And Sprint said earlier this month that it was canceling the 4G PlayBook , though the carrier will continue to offer a Wi-Fi version of the 7-inch tablet.
CNET Reviews said the PlayBook is "a welcome addition to a tablet landscape that has been devoid of professionally-oriented products (outside of Windows 7 slates). And it's an important competitive gesture to both Apple and Google that a third way is possible and that there are still interesting and innovative things to be done in this space."

Did you know that the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet traveled the globe this summer? Developers from across Europe, Africa and the Middle East joined the Research In Motion® (RIM®) teams at Meet the PlayBook tour events and did just that.
In association with Adobe®, nearly 1,000 developers from Johannesburg to Dubai and Paris to Amsterdam got hands-on experience with the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. In fact, not only did they get to test our tablet, they got to ask the experts all about it.
Each event was designed to engage developers in the process of creating applications for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet using BlackBerry® WebWorks™ or alternate Adobe platforms, such as Adobe® Flex® or Adobe® AIR®. In order to maximize opportunities for innovation, we organized two sessions for attendees: one business-focused and the other technology-focused. This encouraged developers to explore everything from monetization strategies to the development roadmap. And of course, our attendees got hands-on time with the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet – with one lucky winner at each event taking one home!

You may be wondering why it has taken so long to see a PlayBook review on BlackBerryCool. First, we still don’t really believe this is a finished product. Before going into a review of the PlayBook, it’s worth taking some time to talk about the tablet market in general. For some reason, we all need tablets now. There’s been a lot of hype surrounding tablets since the launch of the iPad and whether or not you need a tablet is something you should really figure out for yourself. There’s a few key things that a tablet is better for than a smartphone or a laptop. For example, tablets are great for consuming content but if you’re going to be coding, you should definitely be sticking to a laptop.
