The bloated computers you know and love aren’t dying, they’re just evolving into something a little sleeker. Here’s why your next computer may look more like the phone in your pocket.
The evolution of technology is sometimes cruel. A few years ago, we witnessed the birth of a new breed of small 10-inch Windows laptops called “netbooks.” These compact computers shunned processing power in favor of low price tags, portability, and better battery life, carrying older operating systems like Windows XP and running on Intel Atom processors. Sadly, their short time serving us may be ending. Tablets are taking their place. The touch tablet is evolving, and is already a viable netbook competitor. In the next few years, it will almost certainly take over the category entirely, becoming an accepted alternative to the Intel-based, Windows laptop or desktop you’ve known for the last decade and a half.
In recent weeks the tablet market has seen certain devices being given price cuts none more so than the HP TouchPad. This device is being discontinued so saw the biggest discount in pricing that led to stocks quickly running out. HP has announced they will be making one more batch of the device in the coming weeks, which will likely be snapped up very quickly. The BlackBerry PlayBook has also seen some discounts lately, and now the Motorola Xoom is the latest tablet to get a price cut.
According to Eurodroid , UK retailer the Dixons Group has just dropped the price for the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi only model to £329. The device that runs Android Honeycomb was originally launched costing £499, which was also priced at £399 only three weeks ago.
The Eee Pad Tablet PC is said to be an iPad Killer or iPad alternative. It has the ability to play 1080p HD videos smoothly and I am hoping Asus will slap an HDMI output for the Eee Pad. Let's take a close look!
The Asus Eee Pad has been a strong rival to the top Android tablets since its release in 2011. Thanks to a low price point, without compromise to processing power or features, it's a very attractive option for anyone looking for an Android alternative to the king of the tablets, the iPad 2. With it's glossy 12-inch screen and revolutionary Transformer accessory, is this the tablet you should buy?

The Asus EEE Transformer Pad is considered to be the single main competitor for the iPad manufactured by Apple and this is a powerful conclusion that many agree upon after they had the opportunity to test this device. The Asus EEE Transformer is built on the already famous Tegra 2 platform and that’s the main reason why it is very efficient. The full keyboard helps it in resembling very well an Eee PC for Office-type activities, but also for browsing and online communication.
The design is a big strength for Asus products and the Transformer is not an exception. It looks perfect, is stylish, can be used by any manager or professional for presentations and the for the multimedia segment is perfect. Hardware facilities also help: a dual-core microprocessor at 1GHz, 1GB RAM module and a 16GB integrated flash memory. The USB ports are well placed and it features a SD card reader but also WiFi technology. In my personal opinion the physical keyboard helps a lot. But this is not mandatory for many users.
...There are many different Android Tablets on the market today, and it may seem hard to decide which one suits your needs the best. Most of these tablets are very expensive, which makes shopping for one slightly difficult. ASUS wants to change all of that, with their new tablet, the Eee Pad Transformer. What’s special about this tablet, aside from the detachable keyboard dock, is the price. The Transformer is available for $399.99 for the 16GB WiFi model, and $499.99 for the 32GB WiFi model.
The detachable keyboard is what truly sets the Transformer apart from the other tablets. The dock will set you back an extra $150, but when you learn all of the features, it’s well worth it. Not only does the keyboard make typing a breeze, but it also houses a second battery, which can essentially double the battery life of the tablet. I picked one up a few weeks ago, read on to see my full review of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer.
