Asus Eee PC 900A WFBB01 Refurbished Netbook | Discount Netbook
I recently purchased an Asus Eee Pc 900A netbook. Mine is white. ( I hear there may be a black one, of this model number, but have yet to see one ). It has the new Atom processor…. of 1.6 GHZ. Also, 1 GB of Ram, and sadly to say… an SSD ( Solid State Drive ) of only 4 GB, and an operating system of GNU or Xandros Linux.
That SSD of 4 GB, was to my way of thinking….. small… but at least large enough to operate with.
This would have been true…. if Asus in it’s infinite Un wisdom had chosen not to automatically download all the latest updates to the system at the first opportunity you were to get the baby laptop online !!
But that is exactly what happened… !! Even before I was able to get on the internet with this laptop…. I had less than a couple hundred of MBs to work with…. Once online, it automatically downloaded the latest updates and I was reduced to like 70 MB of free space on my hard drive.

Well, I just received my Asus Eee PC 1215B in the mail 3 days ago. I also noticed the trackpad problem and did a Google search. Eventually made it to this website and the previous posters video explaining that you need to remove the foil from the screw mount. I did as follows and am having no problems so far. I broke a few of the plastic connectors in the process and will wait to confirm the fix before I get out the superglue.
Previous to breaking open the laptop I gave ASUS a call. The person I spoke to, once he found out I had a fresh install of Windows 7, told me that because I removed the OEM copy of Windows 7 I had voided my warranty. I proceeded to ask him where this was referenced in my Warranty Card and he said it was "implied". What a joke. Needless to say I made reference to this forum and mentioned the multiple people with the problem. He said that he had never heard the problem and I could send in the laptop to get fixed, on my dime because it was out of warranty. In my opinion the ASUS tech support and warranty are total garbage but their little netbook is actually quite solid aside from the huge manufacturing error.

So I though I'd report my issue via ABRT (see bugzilla link below) - turns out I was the 17th person to report the same issue (that was back on 24th June - about 1 month after release). Now, a total of 38 reports have been filed (one wonders how many are suffering this issue who haven't configured ABRT to file to RH Bugzilla). The latest was yesterday. In my estimation, that is badly broken.

In this guide I explain how to remove and replaced damaged screen in an Asus Eee PC 1201n netbook. There is a good chance this guide fits other Asus Eee netbooks. If it works for you, please mention the model number in comments after the post.
Asus Eee PC 1201n netbook has a LED-backlit screen. This screen is not cheap and replacing it in a laptop repair shop probably doesn’t make sense because the repair may cost a few hundred dollars. But if you can find a cheap screen and replace it yourself it’s a different story.

last night my sister left the notebook half open with something in the middle then maybe she lied on it while sleeping and i checked this morning cause i happen to see the laptop lying there and I opened it ,the screen looked like a broken mirror but it’s not the outer screen, It was inside. My Laptop’s still working..I want to fix it.I don’t really know much about laptops. . . I think it can be fixed but I don’t know what part is broken and I don’t know if it’s LCD or LED. sigh. I really wanna fix it cause I’ve got some important collections in there. . . and I want to keep using it.
