Asus EEE PC 1005HAB won't boot OS
Try using an external usb cd/dvd player and burning a copy of ubuntu on it and try installing it that way. if that doesnt work maybe the hard drive has gone bad. if you can get your hands on a sata or ide hard drive extractor cable and try booting the hard drive via usb on another computer to check if the hard drive is working. hopes this helps

Hello. I had just recently purchased an eee pc 1005hab netbook with Windows XP installed on it. The other day after running a defragmentation, the OS started running very slow. I thought I had a virus and started a system restore, but once it was completed, I turned my computer back on to only see a black screen with the words “windows could not start because Windows/system32/config/system file is missing or corrupted. I tried multiple times to re-install windows and other OS’s on my system through a USB flash drive after seeing this, and in the boot menu, my flash drive is detected, but will not run when I select it for the startup booting operation. My netbook does not have a cd drive which is the major downside of this situation. Would you please be able to help me in any way with my situation? Thank you for reading this.
