The author of this article misses out what may be the most important point here: support. Apple was first to market with the iPad. Its gestation, planning and construction took years inside Apple. When it debuted, other companies were aghast. They believed that Apple would be charging USD1,000 dollars for it. Instead Apple charge USD500 for the base model. Economies of scale, in-house-design, total control of the whole OS and hardware specs and attention to the interface and user-experience, plus huge buying power have caught potential competitors on the wrong foot. To match the price points, others have striven to compete (Motorola Xoom, HP TouchPad, Samsung etc), but to make a profit while matching prices, design, construction, component quality, plus OS integration all suffer. In addition, Apple has a massive iPad applications store, easily accessed.

Nice review. I have one of these, and I love it. I use it for a lot of typing and I must admit I do have issues with sluggishness of typing when I go full pelt, but the degree to which this is apparent depends heavily on the program used.
I hope more apps take advantage of the touchpad and full keyboard (lack of use of Tab in Opera makes me go crazy).
Also, there is no way to disable "tap to click" on the touchpad, which is one of my pet hates about all forms of touchpads.
It comes with the Splashtop Remote Desktop app bundled in with the Asus cloud tools. Unfortunately, since it is the phone it has quite a few problems with screen size detection and layout issues. Since it's packaged in with the Asus software, I'm not sure if it receives the updates it should.
