The Archos 101 sports an ARM Cortex-A8 1GHz processor. Considering the tablet's low price of $299, extras such as Mini-HDMI output; USB host and sync ports; MicroSD memory expansion; and a front-facing camera that can shoot both video and stills at a VGA resolution of 640x480 pixels are impressive, says CNET tablet reviewer Donald Bell. Note that while the tablet can't record HD video, it can play it at 720p.
Archos presents new tablets: Arnova 10 G2, Arnova 7 G2 and Arnova 7c G2
Archos has recently presented 3 new tablet models which don’t have an announced price tag so far, but there is one detail that is the same for all units: Android 2.3 Gingerbread as the operative system.
To start with there is the Archos Arnova 10 G2 which boasts an ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 1GHz, a 10.1-inch multitouch display screen that provides a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, as well as 4GB or 8GB of internal flash memory and a slot for microSDHC memory cards in case you need more storage capacity.
The Archos Arnova 7 G2 is pretty similar to the Arnova 10 G2, but instead of the big screen it has a smaller 7-inch multitouch TFT LCD, with also a smaller resolution of 800×480 pixels.
Why there is no tablet PC market
Last week's IFA showcase in Berlin crystalised the arrival of three technologies that technology companies are hoping will ascend from aspirational to must have status: smart TVs, 3D and tablet PCs. In the case of the latter, competition was fierce in terms of quantity of new models, but a lack of original ideas is threatening to stymie the development in the market.This year Sony, Sharp, Acer, HTC, Dell, Packard Bell, Toshiba, Lenovo and Archos unveiled products intended to carve more off Apple's market share, estimated at 70%. The problem is that put side-by-side the second wave of mid-priced tablets are virtually identical, run the same operating system and compete at similar price points. But for the branding and variation in form factor, offering a choice of 7" and 10" screens (granted, Sharp is experimenting with glassesless 3D and Toshiba is going for slimmer devices) and Android 3.1 Gingerbread proliferation, it's arguable the competition isn't really between hardware but software, iOS versus Android. If you want something different on a tactile level, your options are limited.

ARCHOS 5 Tablet with Android: Introduction and Overview : Health ...
Just bought a new 500gb version and very impressed. Been buying Archos products for 7 or 8 years now and whilst they are never bug free they are great value for money and I still prefer to use their units over my 32gb iPhone. The screen is fantastic, bright very sharp and responsive. Certainly recommended and a relative bargain too! Next version? 128/256gb flash and a CAMERA!! Plus convince Skype to offer on Android and stop wasting their time with crappy Windows Mobile 6.5 variants.
It really looks and hears great like THE product I ever wanted and didn’t get with the iPod Touch..
BUT !!!!
The problem with the market..
I mean as they said, a portable device is only good as it’s connected to the internet, it is also only good if you have lots of GAMES and APPS for it – why can’t you use the original market ?

@Toyeboy89 The Tablet runs fine with 256mb of ram i would prefer 512mb of ram like most tablets and phones do but they didn’t think it was good to add more ram since it would add to the price but why do we need more memory apslib doesn’t use that much its because we download the AndroidMarket place so that we cn play more games whit HD Graphics it is a good tablet but in the future i would prefer 512mb or more but 1gb is too much for a table my cousin pc has 1gb of ram is too much for tablet
I’m getting some bonus cash this month and wanted to spend a bit of it for a device like this. Mind if I ask how well it does as an ebook reader? I would be using it mostly for ebook reading, maybe some video viewing during night shifts at work. I also like to write down ideas I get for stories the moment I get them and doodle things I can later make into actual artwork, any useful apps for that for this?

Basically what he did what he did was hollow out the phone and it became a shell for which he connect the Archos 28 tablet to an IOIO board, which in turn allowed him to interface it with his Android phone (rather ironic given his handle, unless he was referring to the actual fruit).
He also swapped out the outdated microphone and speaker for more modern components along with a brand new ringer actuator. Based on the photo alone you would never have guessed that there’s actually an Android tablet hidden in it. He then installed CMU Sphinx which allowed him to place and receive calls on the Archos 28 tablet through the use of voice recognition as demonstrated on the video below.
