I got lucky enough to be able to play around with the new Archos G9 tablets for a few minutes, they are awesome. Here are some of the features ...
Archos has expanded its line of G series tablets with the introduction of two new models: Archos 80 G9 and Archos 101 G9.

Archos 80 G9 and Archos 101 G9 - high-tech tablet Lowest Prices
Archos has introduced two new tablets, which will run Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS. With the new generation of products, Archos attempts to change public's perception of brand image, associated only with cheap products and generally less efficient...
Like those devices, the G9 tablets run Android 3.2, though a decidedly less skinned up version than Samsung's device. And their 1.5GHz processor assures that they can handle the OS with ease. Archos's tablets also have a few tricks up their collective sleeve. Flip the devices over, and you find a kickstand on one side and a slot on the other than opens up to reveal a USB port designed for the company's proprietary 3G stick.
Ah, so the manufacturers have to make up for shoddy software with higher specs? Not trolling here, just wondering why this is the case when the iPhone has lower specs than say, most modern Android phones but is still smoother.
But aren’t those applications/documents etc. being read from the drive? In that case having flash memory would provide the highest increase in speed… right?
Yeah, I saw someone (Paul O’Brien?) use the word “mehxcitement” or “mehdiocre” for this kind of thing. Still, for $280, I might take a look at the 80 when it comes out. I’ve been thinking about the Nook Color, but this would obviously be a much better deal for the price. Interesting move on the 4:3 aspect ratio for the 80. I guess it’s worked for the iPad, so it should be ok.
...Archos has been making tablets for over 2 years. They’ve actually released one 5″ Android “tablet” back in fall 2009, so they are quite familiar with them. I wouldn’t say their tablets look as good as recent Galaxy Tab devices, buy they are usually solidly built and come with reasonable prices for the specs they have.

The current 2 tablets being shown at IFA are 8″ and 10.1″ in size, and come with the latest Android Honeycomb 3.2 operating system, which is a a little surprising,, especially since Honeycomb hasn’t even been made open-source, yet.
It’s almost as if manufacturers can upgrade Android 3.xx faster than they can upgrade Android 2.xx devices. Could it be because of the better architecture of Honeycomb (and soon ICS), or is it just becaue Google didn’t let them customize the OS too much? Either way, I’m happy to see this, and I hope after Android ICS launches, we won’t have to see any phone or tablet that comes to market with a one year old or even 6 months old Android version. As for the older phones, I hope they, too, can get the latest version of Android within a couple of months or so – all of them (that may be a little too optimistic, though).

Archos 80 G9 and 101 G9 hands-on (video) Archos's pair of Honeycomb slates may not have garnered the same sort of excitement as, say yesterday's Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 or Toshiba AT200, but there are a lot of interesting things going on with the 80 G9 and 101 G9. From an aesthetic standpoint, |

Archos A80S shows up at the FCC, keeps its specs hidden If the French company's recently unveiled 80 G9 and 101 G9 offerings are any indication, we could be looking at a dual-core processor setup and some version of Android -- potentially even Ice Cream Sandwich. We'll keep an eye out for any further |
