Archos 101 Internet Tablet Review
Buy Archos 101 at the best price
Ah, so the manufacturers have to make up for shoddy software with higher specs? Not trolling here, just wondering why this is the case when the iPhone has lower specs than say, most modern Android phones but is still smoother.
But aren’t those applications/documents etc. being read from the drive? In that case having flash memory would provide the highest increase in speed… right?
Yeah, I saw someone (Paul O’Brien?) use the word “mehxcitement” or “mehdiocre” for this kind of thing. Still, for $280, I might take a look at the 80 when it comes out. I’ve been thinking about the Nook Color, but this would obviously be a much better deal for the price. Interesting move on the 4:3 aspect ratio for the 80. I guess it’s worked for the iPad, so it should be ok.
...This is my first experience with Android, and I am newbie tech. I bought my 101 late Saturday night and was compressed by the following Wednesday. Good job on shipping (Trading FSG). Connected to the unit, pay well and turned away. The set-up wizard did exactly what he should do. I picked up my wireless connection to the Internet and neighbors as well. Connected to the internet and updated the firmware with any problems. Appslib downloaded the application and was able to obtain and Flash and many other applications. Battery seems to be just fine. It wears a little ‘faster than I wanted, but they are able to do what I want with it. What do you expect for $ 250 dollars? The casing is a bit...
First off, congrats to Jason B. of Morrisville, Pa., who snagged an XtremeMac Luna SST alarm clock with detachable speakers in last week's Crave giveaway. We're sure Jason will never be late to work again.
Now, on to this week's giveaway. If you've been wanting to join the tablet -toting masses, here's your chance to do it for free, nada, bupkis. We're offering up an 8GB Archos 101 touch-screen tab, one of a few Android 2.2 tablets with a large 10.1-inch screen.
The Archos 101 sports an ARM Cortex-A8 1GHz processor. Considering the tablet's low price of $299, extras such as Mini-HDMI output; USB host and sync ports; MicroSD memory expansion; and a front-facing camera that can shoot both video and stills at a VGA resolution of 640x480 pixels are impressive, says CNET tablet reviewer Donald Bell. Note that while the tablet can't record HD video, it can play it at 720p.
...Like those devices, the G9 tablets run Android 3.2, though a decidedly less skinned up version than Samsung's device. And their 1.5GHz processor assures that they can handle the OS with ease. Archos's tablets also have a few tricks up their collective sleeve. Flip the devices over, and you find a kickstand on one side and a slot on the other than opens up to reveal a USB port designed for the company's proprietary 3G stick.
@Costerguy1234556 I’ve got a 3$ Tablet HDMI 1tera hard drive + expandable MemoryStick 1GB of Ram 10 inch screen whti a 13 megapixel camera at the back and a 5megapixel front has a CD/DVD rom so you can play Assasins Creed Brotherhood it comes whit a keyboard and a mouse all for 3$ WHO THE FUCK BELEVES YOU BOUGHT A 200$ TABLET AND IT IS BETTER THAN BOTH OF THEM
I really appreciate the “academic” comments about the Archos 101 (about what it can do and th ipad cannot do, and how expandable it is etc) but they are not helpful at all! I have the Archos 101 and my wife has an ipad2. The difference is ENORMOUS!!!! Sure, the ipad2 costs twice the price of the Archos but it can do 10 times more things, 10 times better and 10 times more enjoyable… Actually comparing these two I would say that the ipad2 is DIRT CHEAP and the Archos is a very expensive TOY!!!
