No, the iPad and iPad 2 can both be updated through iTunes. There was an update, iOS 4.3. That added a few things. You can look at those things on apple.com.

Okay so here is the deal. Im a typical cpu user. I have a PC.The only things I use on my PC are
1)Microsoft office 2007 (mostly Word,power-point,and sometimes publisher)

iWork is no Office replacement.
Your going to find the iPad is rather hard to use, it has to be propped up and all, keep stabbing at the screen in order to use it.
If you want to use a real keyboard then you got to drag along
