Has anyone invented a cover for the Kindle that works the same way as the Apple cover for the iPad 2? I don't know if it is patented (or if it even can be) but I just love the idea of having a cover that
I don't think there is such a thing for Kindle. There are some hard acrylic cases that cover the screen and the rest of the device including the back, but they're quite lightweight and don't add much thickness. iPearl makes them under the name mCover.

I think the reason was to add an extra features to attract more consumers. Honestly there wasn't much they could add besides the cameras and making it smaller and faster. I think the smart case is pretty cool. It would have been better if it came without

One thing you can count on with Apple is to reduce everything and keep the prices high as before. :)
Think about it, a iPad is actually WORSE than a netbook, at least a netbook has a 160GB hard drive, ports,

I believe so. As far as I know it is only made to work with the iPad 2.

I'm debating weither to buy the white Apple iPad 2!
Pros:
Most up to date Apple software
Smart Cover
Will have it in time for everything:)
Cons:

I was looking at apple's website and they were advertising the new smart covers and it sounded really cool so I wondering if it works only with the iPad 2 or if I could buy it for my 1st generation ipad.
Nope it won't work. The smartcover uses the magnets placed under the LCD display on the iPad 2, the iPad 1 doesn't have these magnets. The smartcover won't be able to attach or unlock/lock your iPad.
