Could Amazons Android tablet revive interest in the 7-inch form factor?
TechCrunch's MG Siegler recently had the opportunity to play with a version of Amazons full-color tablet for an hour, and did his best to describe its capabilities; it has a custom Android user interface and deeply integrates content from Amazon, including the Cloud Player and Kindle software. It will cost $250, and offer 6GB of internal storage for books and applicationsin essence, forcing users to rely on the cloud for the majority of their media content.
Amazons tablet will measure 7 inches. If it sells well, apparently, the retailer could decide to launch a 10-inch edition sometime next year. Siegler compares it to Research In Motions BlackBerry-themed PlayBook tablet: The back of the device is rubberyagain, its very similar to the PlayBook (its black as well).
If, like many, you’d prefer to go contract-free and perhaps use a pre-paid SIM with your tablet, AT&T’s unsubsidized price for the 4G slate is $849.99. In contrast, the iPad 2 WiFi + 3G – with 32GB of storage, just like the Jetstream – is $729 with no data commitment. Over the course of the Jetstream’s two-year contract, then, it’ll cost you $1,539.99.
Lack of competition is part of the problem. AT&T is offering the Jetstream exclusively in the US, which means there’s no inter-carrier price war to help take the edge off the launch day sticker. While it could be paranoia, there’s a sense that AT&T may have picked up the Jetstream more to prevent other carriers from getting it than because of any outright intention to promote it itself.

Android Tablet 10in
If there's one thing to be learned from the HP TouchPad , it's that people love cheap. The iPad has a dominating lead in the overall tablet space, but nothing gets the masses worked up like a fire sale on a previously-comparably-priced item. Velocity Micro is the latest on the block with cheap options for those who aren't entirely sold on the iPad, with the new Cruz T408 and Cruz T410 designed to be the fastest, most feature laden tablets on the market for under $300. One thing I noticed while using my tablet is that there’s actually less need for apps. Many apps simply present website information in a more convenient small-screen format. With a large screen and Honeycomb’s excellent browser, there’s less of a need to do that. I’m a big fan of Wapedia on my phone, but I prefer to use the Wikipedia website on my tablet. I have a long list of bookmarks set up, and us the browser far more than on my handset.
3. Wordfeud
It may not look quite as slick as some of the competing online multiplayer Scrabble apps, but Wordfeud is an excellent, lightweight word game. The bigger screen eliminates the need to zoom in, and makes playing even more fun on tablets. Highly recommended if you have too much free time. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

...I received my ICAN! 10″ Android Tablet from Amazon on December 23rd. Like two of the additional reviewers here mine came lacking any paperwork, and so I thought I couldn’t register it, and therefor couldn’t get to the Android Market. (Making it a very expensive paperweight)
I called Amazon Customer Service for 45 minutes and they were completely useless unfortunately. Claimed they couldn’t find any contact for the distributor and didn’t really want to deal with me, if I didn’t want to just return it.
I did some research online, and let me save you the couple of hours I spent.
The manufacturer’s website is: ican dot US dot com I called the distributor on the phone (number at: gitcorp dot com) and got a call back within 2hrs from “Ray Pelosi” – Not terrible for the day before Xmas Eve. I have to say that Ray was incredibly helpful and uncomplaining. He spent 20 minutes on the phone with me, apologizing for the fact that 100 units got shipped lacking the paperwork, and explaining that you don’t even need the paperwork to register the unit.
