This is a Wi-Fi-only device, so you may want to look at a more expensive alternative. Also, there isn't much in the way of onboard apps, so you'll need to download your own choices. However, it does a neat job of things such as contacts and email and has usable front and rear-facing snappers - for a price of around £250.

Battery power summary for Acer Iconia A100 review
You should get around eight hours from a full charge, which is fine if you're running apps such as Skype or logging into Twitter, but for power-hungry tasks such as viewing videos, the power will drain far quicker.
Cutting-edge notebook design meets mobile communication needs
Traditional notebooks, tablet PCs and smartphones each have their unique advantages in design: notebooks provide computing power and enhance productivity; while smartphones and tablet PCs start up and access the Internet quickly, are small, light and easy to carry, as well as simple to operate. With the growing popularity of mobile communication, users want all of these conveniences from their notebooks. Acer introduces a new generation of notebooks to satisfy these needs: the Aspire S3.
Notebooks have primarily been used for data creation. Over the past 20 years, their applications have grown in abundance, while computing power and communication capabilities have also steadily increased. At the same time, the form factor has become slimmer. However, there has continued to be room for improvement when it comes to startup time and battery longevity in standby mode. Also, users demand ever thinner and lighter designs.
Acer America added another Android tablet to its lineup Aug. 12 with the launch of the 7-inch Acer Iconia Tab A100 , which is actually the first 7-inch slate running Google's latest Android 3.2 "Honeycomb" operating system. This slate won't be mistaken for Apple's popular iPad, but it will attract the attention of those who have been eyeing Research In Motion's BlackBerry PlayBook and especially the Honeycomb-flavored HTC Evo View 4G machine Sprint is hawking. While the Evo View gets its life from a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the A100 is juiced by an Nvidia Tegra 2 chip (and 16GB of RAM), which we've found to be appropriately speedy on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Android smartphones. The View costs $399 plus Sprint's 4G data contract, while the WiFi-only A100 comes in two pricing iterations: $329.99 for an 8GB model and only $20 more for the 16GB version. However, eWEEK doesn't have the Iconia Tab A100 in hand just yet. But here is a sample of the look and feel of the device from Acer's Website.

According to latest tablet news, Acer will release 3 more Android tablets in the first half of this year. The new Acer tablets will range from 7 to 10 inches
I consider the Iconia Tab A100 as the best 7 inch Android tablet released in August, 2011 (US). The other Acer’s Android tablets: the Iconia Tab A500 and A501 are also amazing; well-design, high-end specifications, moderate price. But I always prefer a 7 inch tablet to the 10 inch one, because of its portability. Especially, when I knew that the Iconia Tab A100 is the first 7 inch tablet to run v3.2 of Honeycomb. “The first”, I like it…, sounds prestigious…

The new Acer tablet running on the Android Honeycomb operating system made especially for tablets will hit stores this weekend for $330.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100 is the first 7-inch tablet to run on Honeycomb in the tablet industry. It comes in a choice of 8 GB or 16 GB which costs $350. Both models can be expanded to 32 GB with a MicroSD card. It runs on an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. It has a 5-hour battery life thanks to a 1530 mAh Li-polymer battery, and offers super-fast Adobe Flash 10.3 for great web browsing and game playing. It’s only half an inch thick and weighs 0.92 pounds. It has a wide bright WSVGA screen with 1024×600 resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It also has a MicroUSB connection 2.0 connection.
...The tablet wars are alive and well as more manufacturers come out with their second generation devices, many running the tablet-specific Android 3.0 operating system that was once exclusive to Motorola’s Xoom. Acer’s Iconia Tab A500 is one of the newer devices, offering all the top of the line specs you’ve come to expect in a larger 10.1-inch chassis.
Within the larger tablet maker battles, there is also a battle for processor supremacy. Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, NVIDIA, and to a smaller extent Samsung are all vying for the coveted processor spot in many of today’s tablets and smartphones. NVIDIA won the spot in Acer’s tablet, along with a number of other models, sporting its popular Tegra 2 dual core chip running at 1GHz. The GeForce graphics are stout enough to handle any gaming duties you might want to take up on the Iconia Tab, which should come across crisp and clear on the 10.1-inch 1280×800 display.

Acer ( TPE:2353 ) shares stopped trading briefly in Taiwan this morning as they hit what is called “limit low”, indicating that the stock exchange has a severe imbalance between buyers and sellers.
The reason is the very disappointing outlook from one of the world’s largest notebook vendors. Acer sees the growth in the PC market slowing down, but what is probably even worse is the fact, that tablets apparently are not a major hit in China.
Acer sees lots of dark tablet clouds on the horizon. They expect a lot of first time buyers will buy a tablet but then won’t upgrade the hardware in the foreseeable future leading to very sluggish long term sales. This fact combined with a weak PC market certainly also explains why Samsung earlier today felt compelled to tell the world that it has no interest what so ever in the PC business that HP desperately is trying to spin off.
